Homeless Services

Homelessness is a symptom of many systemic challenges present in our community. Over the past decade, housing costs have increased by over 40%, but median wages have only increased by 14%. This means more members of our low income community are at risk for traumatic events like eviction and homelessness. We believe in a Housing First model - getting homeless people housed as quickly as possible, and getting them the supportive services necessary to maintain long term stability.

Community Connect

Community Connect is a coordinated entry system that helps people experiencing homelessness or at imminent risk of homelessness to find housing resources in Washington County. People who want help with housing can call Community Connect at 503-640-3263 to discuss their situation and find out if help is available.

Our staff will schedule a one-hour assessment appointment with the client to determine the housing and service program that best supports the needs of their household. Then referrals will be made to partner agencies based on the assessment of need and available housing beds/units.

Hillsboro Family Shelter

Our Hillsboro Family Shelter is the lead partner in a three-shelter network in Washington County, including Good Neighbor Center in Tigard and Family Promise of Washington County Oregon in Hillsboro. Families may live in the shelter for up to five weeks. During their stay, our staff help residents make a plan to find permanent housing, and address other needs that will support long-term self-sufficiency and stability.

Supportive Services for Veteran's Families

The Supportive Services for Veteran's Families (SSVF) promotes housing stability among very low-income Veteran families who are homeless, or are transitioning from homelessness to permanent housing. Veteran households work with a Housing Specialist to either obtain housing or prevent eviction. During this time we provide short-term supportive services and assist Veteran households to obtain VA benefits and other eligible benefits. To access this program prospective should call Community Connect at 503-640-3263.
