Portable AC Program -OPENS JULY 1
Starting July 1, 2024 through August 31, 2024, Community Action is offering portable AC units for seniors 65 or older.
To qualify you must:
- Be a Washington County resident.
- Have not received a portable AC unit from Community Action in the last 2 years.
- Be a senior 65 years or older or have at least one member of your household who is a senior.
- All applicants must meet the standard income qualifications of being at or below 60% area median income.
- Must complete the application form.
AC units are limited to one model only. Window kits are provided for hinged windows (casement windows).
The process will take approximately 2 weeks to complete.
Community Action does not have the staffing resources to deliver or install AC units. Amazon will deliver your AC unit to your door. Clients are responsible for installation of AC unit. The unit is generally easy to install and comes with instructions. If you need assistance installing the unit, please work with friends/family or apartment complex maintenance. If you are unable to come up with an installation plan, you may contact Community Action to discuss before applying.

Once your application is approved, you will receive an email from us letting you know when you can expect your AC unit to arrive. The email also will include set up instructions, troubleshooting, and what to do if your AC needs to be returned.
